Centrifugal Blower Restart Procedure

For centrifugal blowers that may have been exposed to flood waters due to a hurricane, storm surge, or heavy rain it is extremely important that you inspect the bearing lubricant and bearings, drain the machine of any liquid, and to ensure that the impellers are not locked up before you restart your equipment.

TO ENSURE A SAFE RESTART, AND MAINTAIN THE RELIABILITY AND LONGEVITY OF YOUR HOFFMAN & LAMSON EQUIPMENT, THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE IS RECOMMENDED PRIOR TO START UP AFTER AN EMERGENCY STOP.

For an oil lubricated centrifugal blower:

1. Drain the oil and look for signs of moisture. If moisture is present, remove the oil reservoir cap and inspect for corrosion on any parts internal to the oil reservoir. If there is any sign of corrosion the bearing should be replaced, and the reservoir thoroughly cleaned. Install new AEON Centrifugal Blower Oil.
2. Remove the drain plugs in each section. Drain any standing water in the blower sections.
3. Rotate the shaft by hand to ensure the shaft spins freely.

For a grease lubricated centrifugal blower:

1. Remove the grease caps and look for moisture or signs of corrosion. Any sight of corrosion the bearing should be replaced. Purge the bearing with new AEON Centrifugal Blower Grease.
2. Remove the drain plugs in each section. Drain any standing water in the blower sections.
3. Rotate the shaft by hand to ensure the shaft spins freely.
